tips and tricks when using a satellite dish for internet:

 

lets just say your installer did a perfect job.

Your dish is aimed properly, Your focal point is perfect, Your cabling has no loss, there is no snow on the dish or feed horn, its not snowing, it’s not raining, the sun is not loaded with sunspots, there are no thick clouds in the sky, there are no obstructions like trees-bushes-the edge of a house or some idiot standing at the dish
Unplug the power to the satellite modem (harmful radiation is emitted from the feed horn)
 
1) make sure your ground is still good, check all connections
 
2) examine the weather cover at the feed horn for condensation build up (small amounts will create a lot of problems), if yes pop the feed cap off and dry the feed and the cap (hair dryers work great), careful not to change the focal point of the feed horn or the dish alignment
 
Sometimes, increasing the reflective area of the dish (stick on things that make the dish larger without changing it out) or spraying a better reflective coating will get you a better signal (sometimes the OEM coating that is on the dish is the issue) skywalker.com should have what you need, tell them Teleview Communications in Brandon, MS referred you and you want to be setup as a dealer ((to get the dealer pricing)no license required)
